Sometimes travelling between reef systems we’d pick up a pinnacle on the sounder and drop some baits and jigs down, action in these waters was immediate and relentless. Some of the various species of cod from the deeper pinacles came up with expanded air bladders and deft work by Steve with a thin bait needle did the deflating, allowing them to return to their depths. |
Sailfish, Dogtooth Tuna, Wahoo, Marlin, Spanish Mackeral, Yellowfin Tuna, Giant Trevally, Coral Trout and Red Emperor to name but a few of the species we encountered. Apart from a few fish for the table and a few taken by sharks the rest were released including 58 sailfish tagged. |
