Hilton Head Island Tarpon Fishing Off The Hook Charters. What a awesome tarpon my client Chris Swenson from Atlanta, GA caught. The fight lasted a little over a hour and the fish jumped a good 8 times on the initial hook up and few more right before we boated the fish. I estimate the tarpon to weigh somewhere in the 120 pound range. This was Chris’s first tarpon caught in South Carolina and his biggest of all time! This was one of those days I have been waiting on for several reasons!! 1st, I had an opening in my schedule on a perfect day to go after a cobia with my new fly rod and reel. 2nd, It just worked out that one of my best friends Trent Malprus was also free to go as well and join me. 3rd, The fact that we caught 3 cobia and saw 5 in just 2 hours all on the fly turned out to be a great day!
