Hot Spanish Mackerel Session And Big Nanny’s!!! by Quarry Mining. August has been an unbelievable month for Spanish Mackerel, one of our best yet with most charters cleaning up. Our overnight trips to the Outer reef have also been bagging out there that thick. We had the boys out from Quarry Mining, with some awesome weather and some great fishing, we started off trolling for Spanish and got amongst some good school size fish. Nothing huge, but a great eating size. They were smashing the lures and even had a triple hookup, but unfortunately lost my brand new big River 2 Sea lure, first swim and only lasted 5 minutes. Oh Well, That’s fishing. The reef fishing was good with some good fish, but a standout 9 to 10 kilo Nannygai by John, to take the fish of the day. A big Cod smashed a poor hussar and is worth a look, happens fairly regularly, you’ll have a smaller fish on, start retrieving him and then boofta, you get hit by a freight train. This one gave a good workout, but in the end spat out the poor hussar. The Spanish Mackerel fishing has been Excellant so make sure you look at coming out for a fish with Reefari. These couple of huge monster Golden Trevally were caught on our recent mothershipping Charter to the outer Great Barrier Reef. These were big fish, and some of the biggest Golden Trevally I’ve seen, pushing at least 10 Kilograms and about as big as they grow.
