Best Bait, Hussar wings for Red Emperor!! The Best Bait for Red Emperor is hussar Wings, well one of the best baits anyhow and is well worth a try. Following on from our previous video, this shows some Hussar wings, with a bit of pilchard on it for berley. What happen is the Pilchard bait acts as a bit of berley and gets the fish interested. It’s a soft bait, and will readily break up and come of the hook quite easily. I always put this on as a bit of entree to help stir the fish up, get them interested, and have a tougher bait on such as Squid and Flesh baits. Keep it in mind next time you go reef fishing. You definately get the better quality reef fish on the flesh and wings, such as in this video. Red Emperor love Hussar baits, and off course Hussar are found where you catch Red emperor, so an obvious food source. Big Hussar are good for eating, beautiful sweet flesh, but the smaller ones, we’ll cut up for bait, but remember they have to be legal size of course. This also goes for your other small fish. The wings are often wasted, and thrown over with the frame, I’m a big believer in the wings and this videos shows it works. Also use the tail, and a bit of colour from the fin is great as a lure. With some meat on the tail, another top bait, and get’s away from they pickers. This was taken on a three day charter, and did we get into some reds and a heap of quality reef fish, spanish mackerel were thick too, so some awesome fishing on the Great Barrier Reef. These couple of huge monster Golden Trevally were caught on our recent mothershipping Charter to the outer Great Barrier Reef. These were big fish, and some of the biggest Golden Trevally I’ve seen, pushing at least 10 Kilograms and about as big as they grow.
