Hilton Head Fishing Off The Hook Charters World Record Trippletail! What a incredible day! On the back in from fishing a few miles off of Hilton Head I spotted this huge trippletail swimming underneath a dead horse shoe crab and pulled out my fly rod that was rigged with 20 pound class tippet and casted a red &white lefty’s deceiver to what I knew could possibly be a world record fish. The fish took the fly and the fight was on for a awesome 10 minute battle! After netting the fish it weighed in right at 17 pounds which beat the current world record by 6 ounces that was caught in 1995 in Costa Rica. What a catch of a lifetime.

This was one of those days I have been waiting on for several reasons!! 1st, I had an opening in my schedule on a perfect day to go after a cobia with my new fly rod and reel. 2nd, It just worked out that one of my best friends Trent Malprus was also free to go as well and join me. 3rd, The fact that we caught 3 cobia and saw 5 in just 2 hours all on the fly turned out to be a great day!
