If you managed to not get bitten off and the fish you were fighting was not bitten off or in half, then you were some hope of getting the fish to the boat. There were several instances when a fish had taken a lure, only to be bitten in half by another and then during retrieval, swallowed by a bigger fish and doggedly edged towards the boat only to be walloped by something even bigger and nastier. This was the food chain at its most primal and majestic, what a privelege it is to partake in what’s been untouched since the dawn of time, and leave it that way....All the hooks on our lures are Barbless.
Wahoo, Spanish Mackeral, Yellowfin Tuna, Giant Trevally, Cobia, Barracuda and numerous species of Whaler Shark. Who knows what other fish monstered our lines, it was one absolute fishing frenzy and alas ’The Alamo’ for most of our surviving lures and jigs, only a few made it home.
