Cockatoo Island’s relevance comes by virtue of its position. Forming part of the Buccaneer Archipelago off the coast of Western Australia its an important port for fuel, provisions and fresh water, it has long been a stop off for Yachties from around the world who leave their signatures around the beatiful spring fed pools on one of the islands nearby. Coincidently its the only spot in this neck of the woods you can have a swim without the real risk of being eaten. |
Numerous amber ales at the hotel bar. The island is the richest iron ore deposit in the world, the sand on the beach is 70% iron, we brushed the sun baking and stayed in the pub. |
