On this video..Dogtooth Tuna though large and fast swimming, are not a true tuna, they are more closely related to the Bonitos. They have large teeth and are great gamefish as well as and excellent food fish. They will readily savage anything that will fit into their mouths, including other smaller Dogtooth Tuna, as we found out regularly. The smaller fish inhabit the shallow reef areas while the larger fish roam the deeper reef dropoffs and Scott Reef has some of the deepest dropoffs in Australian waters. A great day was had by one and all at the 2009 Xmas Party for The Children’s Hospital Randwick. This event has been held annually at the S.G.F.C. club house at Watson’s Bay, Sydney Harbour for 25 years now. Many Sydney Game Fishing Club members and skippers with their boats, along with local businesses and community all chipped in to make it special for the Kids. Its never boring fishing at Scott Reef, you just never know what’s going to turn up at the back of the boat and smash a lure. Rowley Shoals (2)
Multiple hookups are the norm at Rowley Shoals, whether Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, or a mass attack including Wahoo and Dogtooth Tuna. There are some big Dogtooth at Rowleys and along with their mates the Wahoo, they managed to decimate our tackle and lures.
