Some 170kms north of Broome, Scott Reef like its northern neighbour, Seringapatam, is made up of an atoll like reef system. Situated on the edge of the continental shelf, both of these reef systems benefit by the deep, nutrient rich waters that are thrust upon them. Some of the dropoffs around Scott and Seringapatam Reefs are over 500m plus and can be spectacularly steep. |
Sailfish, Dogtooth Tuna, Wahoo, Marlin, Spanish Mackeral, Yellowfin Tuna, Giant Trevally, Coral Trout and Red Emperor to name but a few of the species we encountered. Apart from a few fish for the table and a few taken by sharks the rest were released including 58 sailfish tagged. |
