Fishing can be non-stop at Rowleys if you wanted it that way. You could always take take one of the 20 foot dinghies (we’d call them runabouts), or just fish from the boat at anchor. Sleepless nights always found a few fishing through to dawn. Some mad fishing was to be had through the night, with all sorts of things turning up in the lights and in the darkness. That led to the dawn ballooning for Sailfish session, which usually resulted in at least 2 or 3 breakfast bonanzas.

This event has been held annually at the S.G.F.C. club house at Watson’s Bay, Sydney Harbour for 25 years now. Its never boring fishing at Scott Reef, you just never know what’s going to turn up at the back of the boat and smash a lure. A few times we’ve had wahoo stalking the lures, actually drop back, only to come hurtling from the water from 10 metres behind and 4 metres above to smash their prey. Rowley Shoals (2)
Multiple hookups are the norm at Rowley Shoals, whether Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, or a mass attack including Wahoo and Dogtooth Tuna. There are some big Dogtooth at Rowleys and along with their mates the Wahoo, they managed to decimate our tackle and lures.
