Cubing(chumming)for Yellowfin Tuna is all about commitment. Whether you’ve got three blocks of pilchards or three boxes, you have to make a commitment where to best employ your limited resources, time being the most limited of all. If the swell’s upward of 3 metres and its a tad uncomfortable getting that 20 or 30 miles to where you want to be, then the last thing you want to be doing is moving, especially if you’ve got half of your pilchards already in the deep, doing your bidding. So do your homework well and be willing to stick it out, remember ’The Field of Dreams’,’ build it and they will come’.
Yellowfin Tuna, Striped Tuna, Albacore, Mako Shark, Blue Shark. We’d regularly pick up Yellowfin on lures, but as a rule, they’d only be on average a third of the size of those we’d pick up when cubing(chumming).
