Fishing with Captain Bill Ruth of Billy V Sportfishing. Chinook Salmon, commonly referred to as King Salmon, make up the bulk of our catch most of the season. We target them for the entire month of May out of Wilson, then we move the boat to Oak Orchard to chase them for the remainder of the season. They are an exciting gamefish and are easily the strongest fighters in the lake. Readily caught with trolling tecniques, Kings average about 20lbs. Kings over 30lbs. are caught each year and 2008 saw a several brutes boated. Kings are noted as having a powerful run and will surprise you with their strength. Their sheer power alone makes them one of the most sought after fish on the lake.
