CATEGORY: Bluefin Tuna Pictures COUNTRY: UNITED STATES
Bluefin Tuna fishing with Captain Willie Woodruff of High Hook Charters. For Tuna we head out 15 miles off of the Gurnet lighthouse to Stellwagen Bank, a bank that at its shallowest part is 65 feet deep on the Southwest corner. Most of the days we use live bait, either pogies or mackerel. Early in the season we get some nice 20-30 lbs striped bass on the bank as well. However, we can’t keep the Bass out there because it’s federal water but they’re still fun to catch. Last season was great for tuna out on the bank. The average size of the fish last season was around 120 lbs. They’re on their way North and should be here mid-June having gained some weight over the winter.
