Best bay snapper trip ever; NEW MOON AUGUST 2/3. Fishing for snapper inside the bay can be a hit and miss game to say the least but sometimes you hit it spot on.We set out across the top of the bay in about 15knts of S/W it was a trip to test out Kev’s boat after some engine work and a GPS added. After catching some live bait we were on our way to the western side of Moreton Is. after a slight navigational error that had us slowing to give way to a vessel coming on our starboard, to bad it was a FWD on the beach .We headed north of curtin reef and droped some livies down catching 1- 4.5kg fish on the high tide about 10pm, after the turn the wind got up to about 25kts the skipper had just layed down for a kip when the cabin filled with smoke! Thankfully only a wire had shorted and no flames started. Next morning after not much sleep the fish really came on, from 5am to 6am we caught 11 snapper all from 3 to 5kg this was for me the best snapper bite I’ve ever had ,not big fish by deep sea standards but a great catch for the bay.
