Fishing the Outer Banks - North Carolina
Fishing the Outer Banks, North Carolina with Captain Donnie Davis of DOA Charters. Depending on the season and what the conditions dictate, there are numerous varieties of species we can target. Techniques used to catch the fish vary depending on the species. For example, we may sight-cast to cobias or red drum or we may live bait for amberjacks. We may cast jigs to stripers or anchor and catch fish around bridge pilings using bait. Whatever the conditions dictate we will be rigged up to do it. striped bass, cobia, amberjack, red drum or anything else that swims and makes the drag scream in the ocean and sounds surrounding Oregon Inlet, North Carolina are available.

This day it was a Cobia and a Sailfish

  Captain Donnie Davis
I’m Captain Donnie Davis, I own and operate D.O.A. Charters on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. As you can see, this is not your ordinary charter site and I will strive to make sure that your experience aboard the DOA is also far from ordinary. And while our goal is always to put some fish in the box, I want to make sure that it is as exciting for you as possible.   Carolinas Outer banks
I specialize in light tackle fishing, plainly put, we’ll try to catch the biggest fish that we can while using the lightest possible tackle. It is also my hope that you will not only catch some fish aboard the DOA but also that you will learn something about the resource that we are using. So, join me for an exciting day of inshore sportfishing action aboard DOA in North Carolina’s beautiful Outer Banks estuarine and ocean waters .....Full-day

  The Boat
D.O.A. is a 22 foot Chris Craft center console with 200hp Evinrude Ocean Pro outboard propulsion. The vessel is equipped with a live well, GPS navigation system, Sitex bottom machine, and a marine radio. The vessel’s forward has a large casting deck underlain with three kill boxes for your catch. This year I have added a tower atop the T-Top for better sight fishing opportunities, e.g. cobia and blackdrum. . In addition, D.O.A. has the ability

The Fishing
THE INSHORE TRIP..This trip is our most popular. We fish in Oregon Inlet, the adjoining sounds and up to 5 miles in the Atlantic Ocean. THE INTERMEDIATE TRIP...This trip is at least 6 hours. We fish outside of Oregon Inlet further than 5 miles in the Atlantic Ocean. Many times this trip will present the opportunities for larger fish such as cobia, amberjacks, king mackerel, or possibly dolphin fish. Species availability will depend on time of year and weather and water conditions.

I will rely on my experience as well as other’s to provide you with the catch you desire, but if there is one thing I know for sure it is no one man knows it all. Therefore, I urge you to get involved and ask questions. I want you to be a part of the fishing experience rather than just a spectator who reels the fish in when it is hooked as may be the case on some boats.

WHAT TO BRING...All bait, ice, and tackle will be provided on the boat. If you so wish to bring your own rods or other tackle feel free to do so. You will need to bring your own food, drinks, sunscreen and seasonal clothing. Please feel free to bring a cooler if you want but limit it to one. More than one carry on cooler will make walking conditions problematic aboard D.O.A. If you have any more questions feel free to contact me.
