About Costa del Carping Dave started fishing for Carp on local lakes in Dartford (Brooklands), Horton, Kirby, Darenth and Sutton 27 years ago. His carp fishing career has brought him great fish and great friends. Dave has caught hundreds of fish in England, with his biggest being the famous 40 pounder called twotone. After many years of fishing abroad in different countries, he discovered in 1991 the lakes of the island Gran Canaria where he started catching many fish.
Fly and Lure Fishing Well, we have large black bass up to 2 to 3 kilos in our lakes of Gran Canaria! The client will be given one fly rod, one spinning rod, a packed lunch and a map of the lake. They will be picked up and dropped off, at their accomodation and driven through the mountains to the lake. They will be dropped off at the meeting point and left, to walk and fish from 4 to 8 hours. The walk around these great lakes, are fantastic and the fishing is too!!
The Fishing
The climate of Gran Canaria is warm, sunny and sub-tropical and remains almost constantly the whole year round. This because of the constant North-East Passat winds (Calisio) and the Canarian currents which are a part of the Gulf Stream. The temperatures in the South of Gran Canaria will not come below the 20°C during the day in the winter, and can reach easily 35°C in the summer. The difference in temperatures between the North and the South of the Island is normally about 7°C.
This island deserves the nickname ’continent in miniature’, as it holds a wide variety of microclimates that go from the subtropical to the continental climates. The difference between the dry and rocky South and the green and humid North is surprising and worth to see. The average temperatures oscillate in the summer months between 27 °C and 29 °C (81 - 84 °F), often exceeding 30 °C (86 °F), and in the winter months between 22 °C and 24 °C.
We offer a 2 day excursion in which we include a days sea fishing on the Blue Marlin 3 boat out of Puerto Rico harbour, who hold many European fishing recods and the a days freshwater carp fishing in the lakes in the mountains, of Gran Canaria. This 2 day trip will cost 110 Euro which will include all pickups and droppoffs to accomodation, all food and drinks, tackle and bait and great company.
