The Archer River area on the west coast of Cape York Peninsula is home to any tropical species of sportfish available in northern Australia. From bluewater and reef areas across vast flats and up into large river systems this area is a must. More recently of interest to flyfishing anglers is the huge schools of Milkfish readily available and catchable in this area thanks to the pioneering of Steve Jeston. These critters are of worldwide interest

The Fishing
Cape York The Tour. Safari’s start in March and finish in late December. January and February are very wet and March allows the fresh water to run off making a perfect start to the season. In this area it is much warmer so all species are there year round with months preceding the wet season being excellent. However the best catch for Barramundi was in June with two anglers catching 109 in one day. You just can’t pick it - that’s fishing!
