About Captain Jim I am a native of Jacksonville, Florida. My dad introduced me to fishing when I was about four or five years old and since then I have enjoyed fishing so much that I decided to make it a full time career and I am still passionate about it. I have since become a U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain and a dedicated fisherman. The Fishing
November 2008 Lots of nice size Yellow Mouth Trout and Croakers in the river can be fun and they are easy to catch. Plus they cook up pretty good. Find a rocky shoreline and you will most likely find some croakers and yellow mouth trout. Jetty rocks, submerged hard bottom and submerged rocks piles in the deeper parts of the river will be holding good numbers of these easy and fun to catch fish.
October 2008. Lots of croakers in the river with some real nice yellow mouth mixed in. I have also had some real nice yellow mouth on a jig and shrimp in the creeks. Some of the are pushing 4 pounds.
Some nice big stud red fish n the river and jetties. Try crab, mullet, poggies, croakers or shrimp to entice them to eat. REMEMBER that almost all of these stud reds are too big to keep and ARE THE BREEDERS, so spend some time reviving them so they swim off and NOT FLOAT AWAY.
September 2008 Summer is starting to wind down, the hurricanes are HOPEFULLY gone and the weather is back to normal. With this brings cooling water and the annual mullet run. One of the best times of the year, because as the small finger mullet make their way out of the creeks, the reds, trout and flounder are all staged waiting to ambush them.Savvy anglers take advantage of this massive bait run by using a bait that looks like one of these poor little mullet. I am glad I am no mullet.
