Tropical Sport Fishing Trips - Barramundi Fishing Snake Bay NT
Barramundi sport fishing trips. Our Snake Bay fishing Lodge headquarters is situated on the fringe of Milikapati, a friendly Melville Island township, which is also known as Snake Bay. Our purpose-built Lodge, which is arguably the best located and most comfortable tropical fishing destination in the Northern Territory, is positioned high on the waters edge with sweeping views over beautiful Snake Bay and the Timor Sea. In order to enhance your experience of remoteness and being away from it all, accommodation and fishing at the Lodge is limited to a maximum of 15 guests. This also enables our experienced team to provide you with a superior level of personalised service and attention designed to make your visit enjoyable, thoroughly relaxing, and with the very best and most productive fishing experience possible. But, getting off the beaten-track doesn’t mean having to go without, because our lodge has 240v power, hot showers, flushing toilets, phone, fax &email access (if you need it), plus a wide range of other day to day ‘normalities’ and creature comforts seldom associated with remote fishing destinations in the Northern Territory. Other species prolific in our river systems include mangrove jacks, threadfin and blue salmon, saratoga, fingermark, tarpon and estuary cod. Plus, off-shore we have spanish mackerel, black jewfish, golden snapper, queenfish, giant trevally, coral trout, long tail tuna and many other species. All-in-all we’ve so far counted 30 species of quality fish in our waters and we regularly encounter them all in good numbers and sizes. Barramundi sport fishing trip videos.

  Melville Island Lodge
Melville Island Lodge is one of Australia’s premier and most respected guided sport-fishing Lodge operators. We are located on tropical Melville Island, a scenic 30 minute flight from Darwin, in the Northern Territory of Australia and are a fully accredited N.T. Government Fishing Tour operator. We have been exclusively operating here since 1998 and cater for anglers of all levels and small corporate groups seeking a remote/comfortable experience

  Fabulous and Exclusive Locations
Melville Island Lodge operates from two fabulous and exclusive locations on Melville Island; our main fishing Lodge located on the shores of Snake Bay (maximum 15), and our ultra-remote Johnson River Barramundi Camp (maximum 9) situated in the picturesque upper reaches of the Johnson River. These fantastic locations offer clients three exciting styles of packages - Fishing at Melville Lodge, Fishing at Johnson River Camp and Extended Safaris.

  Anglers Paradise
Through our exclusive lease with traditional Melville Island land owners, we provide our clients sport-fishing access to five magnificent and barely touched river systems; Snake Bay, Shark Bay, the Johnson and JessIe Rivers, and famous Goose Creek. Add to this a wide variety of smaller coastal creeks and inlets, plus a virtually untouched range of coastal and off-shore fishing options, these waters are truly an anglers paradise.

The Fishing
The mighty barramundi is the most famous and keenly sought after fish in our waters, its reputation as being the premium sporting fish in the Northern Territory well earned and thoroughly deserved. Everybody enjoys catching barra. They are aggressive lure takers, strong fighters and look and taste great. Barramundi are prolific throughout the Melville system and are caught in good, often large, and sometimes very large numbers around fallen trees, gutters, creek mouths, rock bars and sand flats.

Barramundi are caught all year at Melville Island, and are traditionally most active during the warmer periods of March-May and September--December. Many trophy sized barra in excess of one meter and 20kgs are caught (and released) by our clients each year. The thrill and excitement of hooking and successfully landing a rampaging one meter barra is, without exception, the ultimate tropical sport-fishing experience. Our full time and very hard working fishing guides are experienced and accredited

But, there’s a lot more to fishing with us than barramundi.
