Richland Chambers Stocking Report from TPWD. 249,657 Palmetto bass (hybrid striped bass) were stocked into Richland-Chambers in May 2009. This represents an approximate stocking rate of 6/acre. The request was 10/acre, but considering how much other reservoirs were cut due to limited hatchery production (our Dundee Fish Hatchery experienced golden-alga-related fish mortalities), Richland-Chambers came out pretty darn good this year.
This was by design, as we placed Richland-Chambers at a high priority. Previous years Richland-Chambers Reservoir Palmetto bass stocking numbers are included below for perspective. You don’t really need electronics right now although they make it nice. You need binoculars in each hand especially if your as blind as I am! Scope em out and if it looks fishy, you better drop a hook down. A lot of times the first fish is a big ‘ol Hybrid! See you on the lake!
