Gethyn Owen - owner / skipper
Fishing from the tender of age of 5 years old, Gethyn has been a keen angler all his life, both from the shore and the boat, however boating being the main interest. Leaving the plastics manufacturing industry 6 years ago Gethyn set up GO Angling - specialising in angling breaks and bait supplies. The charter boat My Way was added to GO Angling a few years ago and has fast become one of the most sought after boats in north Wales.

  General Fishing
The Anglesey coastline is littered with different types of sea bed; ranging from rocks &reefs, sand banks, mud flats and shingled areas, all this together with quickly accessible inshore wrecks (there are over 200 around the Anglesey coast), general angling opportunities around our coast are phenomenal. Our fishing grounds include some of the most prolific in north Wales,Holyhead bay, Holyhead deeps, Trearddur bay, Victoria bank, Caernarfo Bay

The Fishing
North Wales has long been established as a venue for smoothhound. The fish have been targeted by both boat and shore anglers with some good results. Smoothies as they have become more affectionately known to many anglers can be found around many boat marks off Holyhead, Trearddur Bay, Llanddwyn and Whitebeach. All these marks have given anglers some quality specimen fish over many year, the very same areas also offering shore anglers the opportunity to hook into this hard fighting species.

North Wales has long been associated with big tope and Spurdog. Tope excess of 80lb have been brought to many boats and spurs to 18lb have been landed recently with both fish reaching on average 35lb and 12lb respectively. By example pictured left is Anthony Meli with a 79lb tope, caught and released aboard My Way in August 2005. This fish was later confirmed as a new WFSA record. Tope fishing is a favourite. Sitting &waiting patiently for that small click and then accelerating first run.

North Wales is often talked about being the place for big tope, huss, rays and smoothhounds etc. One fish that is often ignored is the conger eel. With fish breaking double figures on most occasions - conger fishing is a thrill all the time. With the weather often being so unpredictable in the winter months, at Holyhead we are blessed with a few decent wrecks within 15mins steam from the marina. These wrecks offer some excellent fishing with congers upt o 50lb being caught recently.

The Anglesey coastline and beyond is littered with many different types wrecks (there are over 200 around the Anglesey coastline alone). The Irish sea has an abundance of both deep and shallow wrecks which play host to many different species of fish. Being part of the shipping lanes into Liverpool, over centuries now ships caught in severe storms have been lost in these seas. Fish that can be expected, pollack, codling, coalfish, spurdog, ling, conger, huss, tope
