Light and Heavy Game Tackle Fishing This region hosts the most productive black marlin grounds in the world producing the biggest strike rate of 1000lb fish and then compliments this by producing over another possible 225 recognised sport fish and table fish from our closest coastal neighbour the Great Barrier Reef. Light Tackle And Heavy Tackle Game Fishing. We are blessed to have the best opportunities for game fishing in the country, Heavy or Light Tackle. Our outer reefs and shelf options including Linden Bank, Opal Ridge and Ribbon Reefs up to Lizard Island are second to none when it comes to landing the biggest of fish in the southern hemisphere. It is achievable by sole charter only including overnight extended trips and mothership options for larger groups.
Light Tackle Game Fishing: Full day activity by sole charter only (max.6 pax in your group recommended) fishing in custom made vessels designed for speed and manoeuvring. 10-15kg line class is used for trolling lures or baits for species such as small black marlin, sailfish, wahoo, tuna and dolphin fish on the outer reef some 20 miles offshore. Exciting fishing and is great for the experienced or first time anglers wanting to add a bit of zap into their holiday. Popper Fishing for Giant Trevally
Heavy Tackle Game Fishing: Full day activity by sole charter only (max 4 pax. in your group recommended) fishing in custom made vessels designed for speed and manoeuvring. 24-37kg line class is used for trolling live baits and lures for big black marlin. It is formula one fishing and the ultimate angling goal for the most serious of anglers. Some fitness is definitely required to tangle with a potential a 1000lb fish. Available only between late September through to late December.
Port Douglas Great Barrier Reef Fishing. This is a great overall fishing experience. It entails a full day on the water travelling some 15-25 miles offshore to outer reefs in comfortable bigger and stable boats. You can either use handlines or rods to bottom fish for coral trout, red emperor, nannygai, trevally and mackerel as preferred species. This is a great all round trip for any angler including first timers and mature kids looking for a bit more excitement .
