Sailfish are abundant from June through to November every year with Black Marlin in the 50 to 150kg range in good numbers at the same time. All our billfishing is tag and release! The Equalizer Equalizer is a sixty foot Conquest built GRP vessel. There is four bunks below decks with another four on the rear deck so our maximum is eight people for our four to seven day extended charters to the Rowley Shoals and through the Kimberleys. With a satellite phone, all the latest in electronic and navigational equipment and the highest standard of saftey available, Equalizer is the perfect vessel for everything from reef to game fishing.
Day Fishing Day fishing is conducted around various reefs within a 25 nautical mile radius of Broome, targeting species such as coral trout, tuna and mackerel, blue bone, Spanish flag, chinaman, cobia, snapper, trevally, red emperor and other reef fish. WE PROVIDE all bait and fishing tackle, comprising the latest innovative technology using carbon fibre rods and Shimano Tyrnos 20 overhead reels.
The Fishing
GAME FISHING: Equalizer features a central seating area on the main deck, around a table and BBQ, a Large fully shaded fishing deck area, an air-conditioned wheelhouse and bunks if you need a rest. Lunch is a BBQ consisting of fresh fish you have just pulled from the sea, marinated chicken and sausages, a variety of salads, fresh bread and fruit platters. While the crew cook lunch for you, we will troll a pattern of lures looking for a few Spanish Mackeral, Tuna or even a Black Marlin!
Our skipper Bob, has won champion angler at Gamex and the Broome Billfish Classic more than once as well as fishing in the champion team over all at both events. Bob has a wealth of local knowledge and will put you on to the fish with a minimum of fuss. Your deckie fished with Team Sentosa the champion overall team in the 2008 Yamaha Broome Billfish Classic and with the best tackle available you are assured of a great day out.
Kimberley Coast Tides: Tides along the Kimberley coast are recognized as one of the highest in the world with 10 metre fluctuations not uncommon. As the tide varies every six hours from high to low, it is important to fish at the correct time of the day and with the right bait and tackle. With a wealth of local tidal knowledge, our experienced staff and crew are able to assist and advise you as to the best fishing days.
WHALE WATCHING: 3 hour tours departing June to October, our custom built whale watching vessel Observer, cruises Broome’s tranquil waters while watching and listening to these amazing creatures of the deep. Humpbacks are the fifth largest of the great whales and are noted for their haunting songs. Named for their distinctive hump that shows as the whale arches its back as it dives, humpbacks are more coastal than most of the other large baleen whales.
