THIS IS NEW ORLEANS FISHING AT ITS FINEST! Captain Scott Poche of Lafitte Fishing shot this video while fishing a charter trip in the Gulf of Mexico Sept.2nd 2009. These Redfish were schooling right off the coast just south of Lafitte,LA. The Redfish were on the surface for over 2 hours. We caught and released over 30 Redfish to fight another day. This is New Orleans Fishing At Its Finest!

The Fishing
We headed to Lafitte, LA to fish with Capt Scott Poche for Brett’s Bachelor Party. The weather was a question mark all week but the cold front stayed away long enough for us to get out Saturday morning to go catch 9 limits of redfish. The biggest was 30 inches and 10lbs. We left the Marina at 6:45 a.m. and we were back at the dock by 11:30 a.m. We had a very good day! Capt Scott put us on the redfish and we caught all our fish in one spot. What a blast.
Yesterday I had the pleasure to fish with a great father and son group from Birmingham. We saw many redfish waking down the banks, and across the shallow ponds that we threw baits at, but were not very successful at getting many to bite in the dirty water. The first area we stopped did not do us any good, as we did not get a bite from the fish we saw.
But one of my favorite ponds had some redfish helped us out. we caught 9 redfish and 1 lonely Speckled Trout, after casting baits at somewhere near 50 or so redfish. It was frustrating watching these redfish swim by the baits and turn their nose to a lure. After exhausting our efforts and run out of places to try and find clean water,with the wind blowing at 15 to 20mph by now, we called it a day and returned to the marina with 9 redfish and our 1 lonely trout.
