Captain Capt. Dennis Cintas is a third generation fisherman and has been fishing professionally since he turned 13 years old. His worldwide fishing experience includes 20 years of on the water knowledge fishing the Kona Coast, it’s fishing styles and fishing areas. Capt. Cintas has a genuine passion for sportfishing and is extremely patient and personable with all of his charter clientele and believes that enjoying the fishing experience is paramount.
Tag and Release Our largest marlin to date is 909 lbs. and many over that mark have been hooked up only to be lost late in the battle. We encourage TAG &RELEASE fishing to help keep our billfish stocks healthy. Dennis has been placed in the top 10 captains in the Pacific for tag and release of billfish since 1993. Admiring the beauty and majesty of these incredible species of billfish up close, prior to release is one of the most gratifying experiences ever.
The Fishing
February 2009. Aloha Fellow Anglers, What can I say, February 2009 was one of the most fantastic February’s for Blue Marlin fishing I’ve seen in 20 years and the run is still going on as I write this report. Just yesterday, our very dear friend and customer Gary Nordloh was with us for a 4 hour trip in the afternoon and caught two marlin weighing an estimate 450 lbs. and 300 lbs. both fish were tagged and released unharmed and able to fight another day.
Last week we hosted Bob and Mary Nesbitt, return customers and good friends. The goal was to catch Bob his first Blue Marlin and get Mary into some smaller game fish such as mahi-mahi and tuna. They chartered the ’Krista’ for two days and we were able to get both Bob and Mary their very first Blue Marlin and Mary still was able to catch mahi-mahi and a 30 lb. yellowfin tuna trolling the deep blue waters off the Kona coast. Right now the striped marlin fishing and mahi-mahi fishing is good as well as a good population of small yellowfin tuna up to 20 lbs. at the offshore buoys. We hope that you can figure out a way to get over to our beautiful Island this year and come join us for a day of fishing. Until next month, keep your tip up and your line tight! We always attempt to have fresh bait onboard in the form of live tuna, mackeral or fresh ballyhoo and other cut bait.
January 2009. Aloha Friends, January 2009 was one of the best fishing months we’ve seen here in Kona for years! The water temperatures stayed warm at around 77 - 78 degrees and a tremendous amount of ballyhoo and smaller bait-fish entered out waters welcoming the arrival of striped marlin, shortnose spearfish, blue marlin, yellowfin tuna, mahi-mahi and great bottom fishing. A wonderful fishing experience aboard for my son CJ who was lucky to tag and release an estimated 500lb Blue Marlin.
