We left Wilson’s at around 09h00 and has a few casts here and there but the tide was very low, we then went out to sea to look for some Shad or Mackerel on our light tackle and there was nothing, there was no Shad, there was no Mackerel and there were no showings of any kind of fish on the finder. The sea was unsettled but there was no wind, water surface temp was 21 Deg. C

After about an hour or so we went back into the bay which was our main reason for the trip to test out the new range of artificial lures on light casting tackle.

Well this proved to be great fun with the incoming tide when we both got a chased by Kingies of around 2Kg but they did not commit. We then moved to another spot and my friend had a big Kingie of 5-6Kg hit his Chartreuse Z-Claw 3 times right to the boat making huge explosions in the water, but he missed the hooks every time.  Rolfe had the shakes after that for a while until the adrenalin stopped surging through his veins.

We carried on with the drift with no further action and then moved to another spot where my White BassArrow got hit by a large Kingie in the 4Kg range but again he missed the hooks and sent the lure flying.

I then moved back to the spot where the big Kingie hit us and I also changed over to a White Z-Claw and on my 2nd cast I hooked up into a Springer of around 4Kg. I had him on for about 3 minutes and he had already spooled about 100m of line when he jumped and threw the hooks.

After that we had a few more chases by some smaller Kingies and missed another Springer.

So, no fish landed today, but I am pleased to report that the Kingies and Springer have arrived and we some nice exciting action on the Z-Claws. Next time we will land them.
