NZ Is Officially Going Off!
August 27th, 2010 | By Mark Armistead

It’s officially going off! The last few trips out on the water have been nothing short of spectacular; not only are there good numbers of fish but the size and condition of these fish has been amazing!

Many fish are being landed over the 20kg mark recently with the biggest topwater king estimated to be over 32kg. As you saw, we weighed another good one last week that cracked 28kg, which also hit a surface lure. The fish are building up condition prior to spawning and are super aggressive and full of hard fighting energy.

The best news is that the top water action has been full on as well as the jigging; most of the fish are getting caught on surface lures and some of the crashing strikes have been nothing short of spectacular! We recently had the guys from Bluefin Productions over and they managed to get some good footage of big fish crashing surface lures (it was one of these guys that landed the 32 kg model).

More reports to come soon, can’t wait to get back out there! Check out the pics below from the Bluefin Productions trip.

28kg Kingfish Off The Surface!
August 18th, 2010 | By Mark Armistead

We had an awesome day on the water recently with a bunch of good blokes. The day started off trolling for some Albacore which we’d spotted out there the other day but to no avail. The call was made to move into the kingfish grounds where we headed for a secret spot and jigged hard for nothing.

Out came the top water gear and carnage ensued – the guys quickly raised and landed a few 20kg fish as well as a number of smaller ones. Then whilst Mike was pulling in his lure to get it out of the way of another hookup, his Action Import stick bait got smashed big time; a lengthy battle ensued and eventually a 28kg fish met cold steel and was brought on board for a few pics.

Well done to the Wanganui legends for a good day out even if it was a bit lumpy on the way in!
