River Reports
Bulkley River
The rain has not affected the river too much. It is still nice and clear and fishing well. Lots of Pinks and Coho and Steelheaders have done pretty good as well.
Kalum River
The river is clean. I have had reports of Steelhead and Coho being caught. The run should build over the next couple of weeks as the fall run Steelhead are due.
Kispiox River
We finally got some rain. River has come up and has dirtied a little but is still fishable. Fishing has done well for some. Coho, Sockeye and Steelhead are in the river.
Morice River
River has no access because of forest fires in the area. Call Ministry of Forests for more information: 250-692-2200
Skeena River
The Skeena River was up then down this week but is still clean. Sockeye fishing is slowing as most of the run has gone through. Limit is lowered to 1 per day, 2 in possession on August 23rd. Steelhead and Coho fishing is excellent. It is not uncommon to catch both Steelhead and Coho on the same day and throw in the odd Chum and Pink. This “is” the time to be out fishing on the Skeena.
Zymoetz (Copper) River
The water is clean enough to fish. Guides report lots of Steelhead in the river.
Meziadin River and Lake
Meziadin Lake has been a bit of a strange week. Dollies and Rainbow, which are usually in abundant supply have been hard to locate and catch – read the full report by Marvin Reid below.
Kasiks River
Coho are coming into the river now. There has been a bump in the water due to some local rain and the fish are moving up river. Fish the deep darker pools where they may be holding.
Exchamsiks River
Coho are coming into the river now. There has been a bump in the water due to some local rain and the fish are moving up river. Fish the deep darker pools where they may be holding.
Bell Irving River
Should start producing some excellent Steelhead fishing over the next couple of months
Bear River
In Stewart, BC should have some Coho entering that system soon.
Babine River and Lake
So the Babine has been fishing well. The river has been good. It’s tough to say though because some anglers who know how to fish the spot do just amazing, while others have a tough time. But fishing has done well over all. The lake has been a bit slower compared to other years. But I found that because the water is so warm, you have to fish deeper. We were fishing at 60 feet, when we normally fish at 30, and then we did well.
