Shared charter today that fell apart. It doesn't happen often, which is why I don't worry about it. I looked at it as a chance to do some fishing myself. "in for a dime, in for a dollar"..So we ran, and ran...I had a plan and it did work out nicely. We finally found the fish pushing water with a hair of aggression in them. Not a feed, but they may be tempted. Not a mid-summer push, but a spring push.
Ed spooled up with the Tuf-Line Indicator hollow core from Basil. You all know Basil. Great reputation. 500 yards...more than half evaporated on the first run. Calm Ed. 30 minutes into the battle, still calm, just hot, sweaty, and tiring. Then the most incredible run I've ever seen that didn't take drag...it ran alongside the boat at 30+ mph and the line was sizzling through the water. It was awesome. A few more runs like that, a couple of runs directly at the boat which put Ed into the water, guiding the whole rod under the boat. He was the man on this fish. Well, you probably know how it ends by now... It was an awesome day on the water!
See you out there, I have some shared charter trips coming up that may interest you:
