When is the best time to fish on Madeira?
I am Capt. Peter Bristow. I would like to offer you this opportunity to join me on my boat the Katherine B in what promises to be the fishing experience of a lifetime.

Due to seasonal variation the dates shown are flexible

Atlantic Blue Marlin of gigantic size are found in the months from May through October. Average size is 6-700 lb. World records are taken on a regular basis. We recommend you join the I.G.F.A. and read the 'Rule Book" before you come fishing. (http://www.igfa.org/) We support 'tag and release' and use Bill fish foundation tags on all Bill Fish. (You can join the Bill Fish Foundation (http://www.billfishfoundation.org/) and support conservation efforts and tag research).

Broadbill Swordfish, Mako Shark, Skipjack, Amberjack can also be taken.

Spearfish in May and June

There is a good possibility of a world record Spearfish to be taken on light tackle in Madeira. The photographs show a fish, which if it had been taken on light tackle, of world record size.

NOTE! This fish was tagged and successfully released.

BILLFISH FOUNDATION AWARD. The Angler who tagged and released the above Spearfish and 4 others - Mr Allan Mason of the UK has won the '2000 Angler Release Certificate Award' for the most Spearfish released in the world by one angler. Allan tagged and released 5 Spearfish in total over two days of fishing off our boat 'Katherine B' with Capt. Peter Bristow at the helm. The Spearfish were all caught on lure heads made by 'Dustin Foo' of London and YO-ZURI skirts from Japan.

We love light tackle fishers.
Fly fishers also should have a go at this record.
