Manta Blue Marlin Bite Is Electric, & The Galapagos Islands Double Digit Marlin Galore!

Folks does fishing get much better that 5, 7 or 10 raises of blue marlin a day out of Manta, Ecuador? Or how about 20 to 50 raises of striped and blue marlin happening now in the Galapagos Islands? You are missing out from two of South America’s best marlin bites happening now. We cannot stress just how good these fisheries are.

Galapagos Islands

San Cristobal Island

May 20, 2018– On The Hook with Captain Gus Hernandez went with the crew to try out new tackle and get a fishing report. They fished 0-30 Bank and found it loaded again with sardines. The crew raised 33 striped marlin and 3 blue marlin to the teasers. They did not attempt to catch any fish as they were trying to get footage and practice with a drone which unfortunately crashed in the water and was useless. They only fished for 5 hours on the bank and left about 1 pm but Captain Gus mentioned that he saw more than 100 tailing striped marlin throughout the day.

More reports to come this week from Galapagos as the On The Hook will be fishing again with guest.

May 19 & 20, 2018– The local panga fleet reports 5 to 8 raises of mainly blue marlin on average per day fishing 17 to 35 miles out. The local boats all had action from plenty of hungry marlin. They reported nice water conditions and plenty of flying fish.

Folks if you want the best shots the Pacific Ocean has to offer for marlin then book your trip of a lifetime now!

Galapagos has a marlin bite that is unlike anything happening in the world right now!

The fastest and most productive marlin bite anywhere in the world at the moment is happening in the Galapagos Islands and you are missing out. Here is the latest report from Galapagos. There are still some limited available dates to book for May and June if you want to experience possible double digit shots at marlin. The striped marlin bite is excellent and due to the good water temperature the blue marlin have also been showing up. Captain Gus Hernandez mentioned what he estimated were over 300 marlin feeding and tailing during a day of fishing on 0-30 Bank.

May 16, 2017– Angler Andrew Hebard fished onboard the On The Hook with Captain Gustavo Hernandez for an impressive day of marlin fishing. The sardines, birds and wildlife loaded 0-30 bank with lots of action. The total tally reported by Captain Gus was 41 striped marlin raised in the spread, 2 blue marlin and a total of 20 bites from striped marlin, 2 bites from blue marlin. 7 striped marlin released and 2 blue marlin released. Captain Gus said there was so much abundance of bait that it made the marlin quite finicky.

Folks now is the time to book if you want to experience high volume incredible marlin fishing. The Galapagos striped marlin is no push over either. Most fish average 150 to 200# with some going 240 and up to 280# quite commonly.

Galapagos striped marlin bite is hot & Manta, Ecuador’s blue marlin season off to a good start!

Galapagos Islands

Santa Cruz Island:

Captain Nicolas Schiess has racked up some incredible numbers onboard the Tesoro Galapagos raising double digit striped marlin on most of his days fishing last week between May 9 and 11, 2018 on Bank 0-30. On Sunday May 13, 2018 Captain Schiess had this report in his own words:

“We got the tackle ready to go at 10:30, sighted tails and went on it, 10:45 the first bite in the squid chains, 11:15 second bite and strike, lost it 15 minutes after, 11:45 strike & release a striped 300 pound!, we pulled the gear and started chasing a bait ball 2nm to the NW of the seamount, trolled there again but no bite happen, went back to were we had the attacks and sighted two Striped surfing the waves, we manage to get the outriggers lines in the mouth and had the third strike and second release by 1:45. Tomorrow we be there again with California Anglers, we keep you up date!”

Tesoro Galapagos ended the day with 2/4 on striped marlin and saw a few more trailers. It was a slower day than the previous week which saw lots of action on the same bank.

More reports to come from Captain Schiess and we have a video to share with you thanks to the Tesoro Galapagos team from Santa Cruz Island. These guys run a cool operation. You can book directly with Captain Schiess or we can help you.

Manta is still one of the best kept blue marlin hotspots South America. As the summer rolls in so should the great fishing reports. Fish usually show up in May and set the tone by June for what the season might be like.

May 9, 2018– Atomic went 1/4 on blue marlin.

May 10, 2018– Panga Don Teofilo went 1/3 on blue marlin and Panga explorer went 2/4 on blue marlin

May 12, 2018– Adria 1/3 on blue marlin and 3/5 on some nice mahi mahi. Amalita went 0/2 on blue marlin.
