Fellow Anglers:

If you were one of the guest fishing the last week on our boats then you know how good the action has been in several of our destinations.
Salinas saw some days of very good marlin fishing with stripes and blues an boats reported seeing as many as 20 tailing marlin a day. Some boats even raised double digits of marlin. Manta had solid marlin action but the wahoo bite was really hot.
Galapagos had very good big eye tuna and wahoo action as well as more striped marlin on 88 Bank.

ECUADOR
Salinas

August 6, 2016 - beautiful blue water and sea conditions were choppy with 75 F West of Salinas about 25 miles. Florimar boated an 819# blue marlin by angler Omar Koury and also had a striped marlin out of a shool of 6 and lost 2 blue marlin including one that spooled a reel. Makaira released a striped marlin and saw 3 more tailing with a triple bite of striped marlin.  Maria Beatriz went 0/1 on a blue and 0/3 on striped marlin.  Gaby went 1/5 on striped marlin andsaw 6 tailing striped marlin. La Mari raised 15 striped marlin and caught 1. Don Agustin had a triple of blue marlin and went 0/3 on blues plus lost a striped marlin. Sunchaser lost a blue after fighting for a while. Moni lost a striped marlin.

August 7, 2016 - Mahi Way saw 5 tailing striped marlin, and went 1/6 on striped marlin and a blue. Don Chuma, angler Fernando Mata had his son Fernando junior catch a blue estimated around 300# and saw a striped marlin.

Manta

August 6, 2016 - 5 pangas fishing North of Manta reported raising 3 to 5 marlin each with a mix of blues and striped marlin.

August 7, 2016 - Miura reported an excellent wahoo bite catching 8 out of 14 bites and then catching several grouper jigging with a client.

August 8, 2016 - a panga fishing South of Manta reported a black marlin around 600# and 2 striped marlin lost.

San Cristobal, Galapagos Islands

August 7, 2016 - Argentine guest Jose Perlonesco and his brother Antonio took advantage of our 20% summer discount and had a blast fishing onboard Jhonamar 2 on 88 Bank. The 68 mile run on choppy seas to the bank was rewarded by immediate action from striped marlin and big eye tuna with water at 72 F.  Teaser went into the water and they had not fished 20 minutes when a double of striped marlin came into the spread. Both anglers made fine use of their skill and hooked and released both striped marlin. Teasers went back in the water and not long before a school of big eye tuna veraging 60# was busting flying fish next to the boat. 4 rods went off and the anglers landed 2/4 big eye tuna which would make nice sashimi. A triple of striped marlin was seen tailing and came in to isnpect the spread but would not eat. Right before lunch time a huge explosion crashed the right long and blue marlin estimated around 800# took off into the horizon. Large blues are known to bite in colder waters at times. This fish would not stop and despite best efforts to chase her down she spit the hook after about 20 jumps. Fishing slowed down for the rest of the day and the anglers decided to head in by 2 pm to get some rest and prepare the tuna in town.

August 8, 2016 - the Perlonesco brothers wanted to try some bottom fishing and headed about 25 minutes North of Port to catch grouper and jacks. They had a fun day with spinning tackle and jigging the reefs.
