Fishing Council
OUR PURPOSE and MISSION STATEMENT is to inform and educate anglers,
boaters and the general public about natural resource conservation and
enhancement. Promote, protect and conserve our aquatic resources; manage
against over-harvesting at the commercial and recreational level clean
air and clean water; prevent the spread of unintentional introductions of
non-indigenous aquatic nuisance species (exotics); promote safe boating
practices; and represent the sport fishing community before divisions of
government.
"We" are a
confederation of organizations and individuals who have banded together in
the Great Lakes region. The Great Lakes Sport Fishing Council is a
non-profit advocacy organization whose members are concerned about the
present and future of sport fishing and its economic benefits in the
Great Lakes , adjoining waters and in protecting and enhancing the
regional sport fishery and its wetlands, habitat and environment.

Bay Area Sportfishers
The BAY AREA SPORTFISHERS was originally organized for Hewlett Packard
employees and their families but was also open to anyone who was
interested in the sport of fishing. The Hewlett Packard Sportfishers club
was formed in 1972 by a number of "fish-minded" HP employees at the Santa
Clara Division. As of April 1, 2001, the Club was required to reorganize
due to the new HP Corporate Club Guidelines requiring the membership of
any HP club to be 100% Hewlett Packard employees. We still have a few
charter and retired members but also have a diverse membership from other
sources.

American Sportfishing Association
The American Sportfishing Association (ASA) is the sportfishing
industry’s trade association, committed to looking out for the interests
of the entire sportfishing community. We give the industry a unified voice, speaking out on behalf of
sportfishing and boating industries, state and federal natural resource
agencies, conservation organizations, angler advocacy groups, and outdoor
journalists when emerging laws and policies could significantly affect
sportfishing business or sportfishing itself. We invest in long-term ventures to ensure the industry will remain
strong and prosperous as well as safeguard and promote the enduring
social, economic, and conservation values of sportfishing in America.
ASA also represents the interests of America’s nearly 40 million
anglers who generate over $45 billion in retail sales with a $125 billion
impact on the nation’s economy creating employment for over one million
people.
