How do I upload a video?

Once you have finished compiling & editing your video, check that the file is smaller than 100MB and is either FLV, AVI, MOV, 3GP, WMV, MP4, M4V or MPEG formats.

  1. Login to your Brag n Release account or register if you have not already signed up.

  2. Click "My Videos" on the red menu bar at the top of the page.

  3. Click "Create a New Video" on the second red menu bar.

  4. Fill in as much of a description as you like. Remember the better the story you tell, the more people will find and watch your video.

  5. Click "Save Details".

  6. Click "Upload File".

  7. If you have uploaded an FLV format file, you will also need to upload a thumbnail picture manually.

  8. If you have chosen one of the other file formats (AVI, MOV, 3GP, WMV, MP4, M4V or MPEG) a thumbnail will be created automatically by randomly selecting a frame from your video. Of course, you can always replace that thumbnail picture with one of your choice by clicking "Replace Thumbnail".

  9. Click "Upload File".

  10. In the next window, click the "Browse" button to browse for the video file. Select the file you want to upload.

  11. Click "Upload File" again.

  12. A pop-up box will appear showing you the progress of your upload in both % terms and kilobytes.

  13. Depending on the size of the file you have selected, and the speed of your connection, it can take from a couple minutes to over an hour for your video to upload. In most cases uploads are approximately 1 meg per minute.

If you get an error message, it may be that you are trying to upload a file format that is not supported. Check that the format is one FLV, AVI, MOV, 3GP, WMV, MP4, M4V or MPEG formats.

What video file formats can I upload?

Brag N Release supports FLV, AVI, MOV, 3GP, WMV, MP4, M4V or MPEG formats.

Please note that if you have chosen FLV, AVI, MOV, 3GP, WMV, MP4, M4V or MPEG, a thumbnail will be created automatically by randomly selecting a frame from your video. Of course, you can always replace that thumbnail picture with one of your choosing by clicking "Replace Thumbnail".

If you choose to upload an FLV file, then a 'default' thumbnail will be visible. We recommend replacing the default image by clicking on "Replace Thumbnail" and selecting a favourite image from your collection.

What about other file formats?

If you have a file format that out server-based transcoder will not accept, you can use a desktop converter and then upload the converted FLV file to Brag N Release.

You can download your FREE Brag N Release converter, courtesy of EasyFLV by clicking on the link below. The EasyFLV converter can handle a very wide range of file formats.

Why can't I see the upload progress bar when I am uploading?

The video will still be uploading even though you can't see the upload progress bar.

If you cannot see the progress bar after clicking "Upload File", it may be that your browser is blocking pop-ups. Try un-blocking pop-ups before any uploading.

If you have 3rd party security software installed, such as Norton Internet Security, the settings may disallow the necessary continuous back-and-forth connection to keep the progress bar updated. Try switching off the security software temporarily and using the Windows Firewall that comes with Windows XP.

How long does it take to process a video after it's been uploaded?

The time it takes to process your video and convert it to FLV format depends on the format of your original video, the size of the file, and the amount of traffic to our site. Usually it is a matter of a few minutes. If you have waited more than 2 hours or so, you may wish to start again:

  1. Select the video from the list in "My Videos"

  2. Click on "Edit"

  3. Click on "Replace File"

  4. Click on "Browse" to locate the video file

  5. Click "Upload File"

Make sure your video is under 10 minutes in length and under 100 megabytes in size.

How do I download my videos?

Once you have uploaded your video in one of the accepted formats, our transcoder automatically converts your video file to FLV format so that it can be played on our website. You can easily download these converted FLV files:

  1. Login to your Brag n Release account.

  2. Click "My Videos" on the red menu bar at the top of the page.

  3. Click "Edit"

  4. Click "Download File"

You will be shown a download box asking where you wish the file to be saved and the name you wish to call it.

What picture file formats can I upload?

Brag N Release supports GIF or JPG formats only. The individual picture file size should be limited to 250K to ensure that the album does not take too long to load on your browser. There is a maximum of 24 pictures per album. The optimal picture size is 480x360 pixels. The slide show player is set to resize each image (in either landscape or portrait layout) for optimal viewing in your browser.
