The Fishing
Diving in the North Island of New Zealand offers a wide range of experiences for the diver. Freediving and Spearfishing around the Northern part of NZ is exceptional. Here you can target everything from inshore fishes like the John Dory, Snapper kawhai through to the likes of Kingfish and Snapper (Schnapper). Then for the more experienced diver you may choose to take on our mighty Black Marlin, Yelowfin or Bluefin tuna.
The Three Kings are positioned 64km Northwest of Cape Reinga. They are a group of 13 Islands thriving in aquatic life making this destination one of the top dive locations that New Zealand has to offer. This incredibly stunning group of islands lies in treacherous waterways that should only ever be experienced by suitably qualified divers. When you dive the Three Kings care should be taken in this area as the sea has claimed many lives throughout history.
The Alderman Islands have been a protected pest free environment since 1933 having Tuatara’s and bird life like the Storm Petrels. The water temperature here reaches a very pleasant 22 degrees in summer. Due to the vast amount of Diving potential located in and around the Alderman Islands we have broken this area down to as many hotspots as possible. The Bishop’s Hat offers a bit of everything as here we have a cave, wall and a magnitude of species that frequent here. Bishop’s Hat is exposed to weather from the easterly quarter with the best diving being between 10 and 30 metres. Crayfish and other crustaceans’ can be gathered here. About Paul Morris
Dive Planet was the brainchild of Paul Morris. A keen kayaker and fisherman Paul’s life changed forever on 14 January 2005 when kayaking in Taupiri Bay an East Coastal Region off New Zealand’s North Island, Paul had a terrifying encounter with a Great White Shark. Paul’s post traumatic recovery finally resulted in a respect and fascination of sharks which culminated in him learning to scuba dive.
