The Fishing
TROUT FISHING. If you like to fish on moving water, we offer both Walk and Wade fishing and Drift Boat float fishing. The waters we fish are varied enough to provide beginning anglers with the chance to hook and land fish so they learn the tricks of setting the hook and landing the fish. At the same time, we fish waters that will please and challenge even the most seasoned of our guests. Much of our trout fishing is on the Main Salmon River from Stanley to Challis; and on Bear Valley Creek

Trout fishing occurs from early March until late October with the summer season thru late September providing many opportunities for dry fly fishing and the spring and later fall season more chances for streamer and nymph fishing. But, don’t despair, we use all techniques in all seasons as we target larger and smarter fish! We typically practice catch and release fishing, since many of the fish species we catch are protected. The upper Main Salmon area near Stanley offers a chance to fish for

STEELHEAD FISHING. Steelhead trout are truly an amazing fish to catch. They run, jump and play all the way in and with an average size of 20-40 inches and weight of 5-20 lbs, hooking one is an unforgettable experience! We fish for these fish from mid March until the last day of April on the Upper Main Salmon. We fish using ’blind fishing’ and ’sight fishing’ techniques and may be found fishing anywhere in about 60 to 70 miles of water on the Main Salmon River from Chall

Once the water in the higher country warms up, these fish begin to move on up to the waters they were born in to begin their spring spawning ritual. Our steelhead season occurs in March and April. Although the exact timing of the spring upstream migration each year is impossible to predict, fishing is usually best in late March and all of April. To preserve the quality of your steelhead fishing experience, we limit groups to 2 and very occasionally 3 guests. Steelhead trips are mostly Walk, Wade
