Fly fishing in Slovenia with Rok Lustrik and the guides from Lustric. Slovenia is a country that can offer so wide a variety of fishing options, from gin clear alpine streams to mysterious chalk streams. Species diversity is the name of the game in Slovenia: you can expect to catch brown trout, rainbow trout, grayling, brook trout, ’Danube’ salmon, or even the elusive and mysterious marble trout -the trademark of Slovenian fly fishing!
In Slovenia, there is always some fishing to be done. Fly fishing for trout and grayling is possible from March to right through to November. No matter what the season, good fishing is guaranteed. The season for catching Danube salmon (the huchen) starts in November and lasts until February. On most rivers the spinning technique is used, but it is possible to catch them on the fly, especially on upper Sava and Sora rivers.
Slovenia is also unique as a fishing destination, since it offers a very wide range of fish species to fish for, including wild Brown trout, Brook trout, Rainbow trout, Grayling and Danube salmon. It also has its own unique trout, the famous and mysterious ghost of Soca the Marble trout. Join us and share our passion for fishing in Slovenia.
The Soca is probably the most famous alpine river in Slovenia, and rightly so, with its very different tributaries. Set in breathtaking scenery overlooking the Julian Alps, it is home to the most fascinating and elusive fish species in the world - the marble trout - as well as Adriatic grayling and rainbow trout. Fishing season: April - October. Sava The river Sava is the longest alpine river in Slovenia. Fishing season: April/November for trout and grayling, December/February for Danube salmon
Idrijca. Without doubt, the Idrijca is one of the most challenging of our rivers to fish. A mixture between freestone and chalk stream provides the complex environment for wide ranging and unique aquatic life. This makes the fish very selective in their feeding: every day is a lesson in entomology as well as the chance to stalk the queen of our Salmonids - the marble trout. Fishing season: April - October
