The Fishing
Sailfish. The outstanding identifying feature of the Sailfish is the long and high first dorsal fin. Atlantic Sail Atlantic Sail averaging 30 - 50 lbs the Sails frequent our close to shore waters out of Punta Cana during November, December and January, coming back for a couple of weeks with the start of the white Marlin Season end of March. We fish Sail on light tackle 20-30 lbs using natural baits like Mackerel, Tuna, Jack, Ballyhoo, Flying Fish, live or deadbait.
Dorado. Dorado is a light tackle super-action.
weight in our locals averages 15 - 40 lbs, but we get several 50 - 70+ lbs Mahis seasonly. we catch Dorados, also named Dolphin Fish and Mahi Mahi, all over the year, their main season with big schools right in front of our coast is October - May. Dorados are caught far offshore and right in front of the reef in our local waters, mostly found near something floating on the sea’s surface, weed lines, and current brakes in waters ranging 70 - 8
Blue Marlin. Even with the very constant water temperatures of our local waters the high season for Blue Marlin is starting end of June and lasts til mid October. Most caught Blues average 200-400 lbs, with several dozends in the 500+ range each season. our right away deep blue waters after clearing the reef allow us to target Blue Marlins very close in front of the coast, mostly trolling 8-25 nmls offshore. prefered baits: * big artificial lures * fresh Bonitos and Yellowfin Tuna
White Marlin. usually found in Deep Blue warm waters white Marlins can frequently been caught close to shore in depths less than 50ft. This top rated light tackle Billfish grows up to over 30 lbs in the first year of it’s expected 7 years life period. averaging 50 - 100 lbs we target the white Marlin by light tackle, fishing 20 - 30 lbs lines. prime time for white Marlin in our local waters starts mid April and lasts til end July. prefered baits: live-bait/dead-bait,Ballyhoo,Bonefish,Macke
